Sarah founded Neon Legal in 2016 with a clear vision to shake up the traditional legal model by delivering sharp, business-first legal advice through a flexible freelance general counsel approach. Her mission is simple: offer clients high-quality, practical legal support that is commercially savvy and aligned with their business goals, with lawyers who are embedded in the business.
A dynamic commercial and corporate lawyer, Sarah advises across industries where business moves fast: retail, fashion, supply chain, entertainment, sport, consumer, intellectual property, brand, technology, digital, and media. With hands-on senior management experience inside high-performance organisations, she understands what businesses need from a trusted legal advisor real-world insight, commercial acumen, and the ability to cut through complexity.
A Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), Sarah holds non-executive director roles and advises boards on governance, risk, and strategy. With a reputation for being energetic, commercial, and straight-talking, Sarah is a trusted advisor to clients who value sharp thinking, creative problem-solving, and legal advice that drives business outcomes.
In private practice at Browne & Co, Sarah managed complex commercial and litigation matters for some of Australia’s most prominent sporting and media clients — including the AFL, Cricket Australia, HSV, AFL clubs, Channel 9, and leading entertainment and sports bodies.
General Manager – Commercial, Consumer Business & Legal Affairs at St Kilda Football Club (AFL), Sarah reported to the CEO, leading legal affairs and overseeing critical commercial areas including sponsorship, membership, merchandise, operations, staffing, and strategic growth.
She also served as Legal & Business Affairs Manager at Geelong Football Club (the Cats) and advises as in-house counsel to the Western Bulldogs Football Club, bringing legal expertise and commercial insight directly into AFL club environments.
Sarah’s career blends top-tier private practice, C-suite operational leadership, and senior in-house legal roles:
Sarah’s in-house career includes national legal roles at Toyota Australia (TMCA) and Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) (digital, Fox FM, Triple M, Channel 10 television), working across commercial contracts, media rights, sponsorship, and digital platforms.
She also led national commercial and litigation teams as Executive Lawyer – Head of Commercial at Lexvoco / Lawyers On Demand, a leading UK alternative legal services business.
